As of Spring 2024, we do machine rentals on a day rate. Yes, you can request to rent machines for multiple days. Providing weekly rentals is in our plan, and we are interested in what your thoughts are on this topic.

Imagine a system nearly as simple as ordering pizza, except we come back after to pick up the machine.

1. Contact us about your equipment rental needs

2. We will ask you a bit about your project, timeline, rental dates, and if the equipment order is for pick-up or delivery.

3. Once a date is agreed on, we will secure you in our calendar. On the day preceding your booking, payment including damage deposit must be made and our rental contract signed. You will receive a receipt after payment to the email you provide us.

4. On the date of rental, equipment will be either delivered to your site or you will pick it up at our home location on Cook Street, and, at end of day the reverse is repeated.

5. After rental, we will inspect equipment for damage, and if everything is in order, return your damage deposit to you.

Delivery is a fixed price within 10 kilometers of down town Victoria, and becomes a per km price for distances exceeding this value.

We base delivery distances on the address you give us.

Equipment is either delivered early, first thing in the morning on your date of rental, or in the late afternoon/early evening on the day preceding your rental.

You will receive equipment in a secured condition. During rental, when the machine is in your care, it must be locked up (with the chain and lock we provide) to something secure on your site when you are not present. You will be provided with a key code for this lock upon rental.

We do not require you to be on site for our delivery and pick up, but we do require that you advise your clients that we may require access to drop off or pick up equipment on their premises. We ask that you advise us before hand if there are special equipment delivery/pick-up considerations like gates or check points.

We know that your schedule may not always go according to plan and you may need to alter or cancel your booking. Therefore you can cancel a booking at any time before we begin to conduct delivery of equipment.

Yes, wood chipping services are for residents, and equipment rentals are for businesses.

Great question! Canada's small business environment is already a risky one. And, we believe a significant portion of the risk in starting a business is borne through substantial upfront investment required just to secure a storefront location. They are not prerequisites to providing good services.

Meanwhile the market suffers from lack of business diversity, competition, and creativity.

In the property care industry, when the sun starts shining in February/March, the property care work industry spins up into overdrive, and won't let up again until work slows in December. Bob's Equipment isn't in business to impress busy landscapers, horticulturalists, gardeners, and arborists with an impressive storefront that costs time to visit. We're here to impress with equipment that works, where the work is. 

Plus, by foregoing a storefront, Bob's Equipment can spend more investment dollars developing equipment that our customers want.

In our continued effort to focus on function over form, and in the spirit of the creativity we embody with our service approach, we appreciate and wish to celebrate the work of artists. And, like those who were appalled when scavengers cut Banksy's graffiti art right out of  the wall, we're appalled with the notion of painting over the work of our local artists. Besides, in all likelihood, if we painted over Peter's amazing art, the truck would likely get re-tagged with something less wholesome. 

Have a better mural idea? Bring it to us! Like a forest fire can be a rejuvenating event for an ecosystem, change to us means growth! Even an artist knows that change is inevitable, and we neither will hold so tightly on to our own past if your mural proposal is better. But again, we do ask that if you have an idea for our truck, bring it our way and we'll run it past the original artist first. bob@bobchip.net
